Date night with Mariah. Technically Mark and Mona were there, but I always like to say Mariah is all mine. Even though we lost and didn't get to see the movie we wanted to see it was still a great night. Love this girl!!

Scrapping last Friday

Finally posting my layouts from last Friday, could have sworn I worked on more, but maybe not. 3 in 4 hours is good right. Yeah Right.

My 40th Birthday Surprise Party

My family threw me the most amazing surprise party. My sister Veronica knew I had this thing with wanting an Alice in Wonderland party. She along with the help of Mark and my little sister Diana, they threw me the party I always wanted. Could never thank them enough.

The most beautiful baby in the world Audrey. Yeah sorry, I can't say it enough, I love this girl.

And look...Basic Grey. I want so much to love Basic Grey. I have so much trouble using it, that is why I have it. Huh? What? Well the way I see it, it pulls me out of my comfort zone. I am trying and I kind of like it. But still have to admit it 's not the first line of paper I pull out when scrapbooking.

You have to know them to understand why I think they are amazing. It's not that they laugh at my jokes, because really I am not funny. It's not that I run fast like them, because really I am the slowest wanna be marathoner on earth. It's because they inspire me, they have such big hearts and for that reason I say they are amazing.

project 365 - 5/21 Salsa day

For today's Project 365 I thought I'd give out my sister's famous salsa recipe. It is so simple but oh so good. Thank you Veronica for sharing it with me and now I share it with you.

The ingredients:

1 medium onion

1 28 oz can of diced tomatoes

1 28 oz can of Jalapeño Peppers (I prefer the already sliced ones)

1 bunch of cilantro

*not pictured salt for taste

Slice up the onions and throw those in the blender. Chop up the Cilantro and throw that in. You don't have to chop it up or anything, the blender will take care of that for you. Throw in the diced tomatoes and then throw in the can of jalapeños. Yes the whole can, include the carrots and the juice. Add in your salt for taste. Blend on low for about 30 - 45 seconds.

Store in your favorite container..and enjoy


It really is good. I make it at least once a month and it's gone in no time.

Look at this amazing birthday cake! My friend Georgina is the best ever for baking it and Delia is amazing for ordering it for me.

My friends are sneaky. A few people actually mentioned things where I caught on and I asked what party? What are you talking about? With the stressful week I had I kind of forgot about it and went about my week.

But you know what..I didn't get one but 2 .... yes 2 cakes on Saturday. I've mentioned Audrey on my blog before, she is one of the reasons why I continue to volunteer on Team in Training. Her mom made me a German Chocolate Cake that was to die for.

I am feeling really blessed this morning. Love my friends! They made this weekend extra special. THANK YOU!!!!!

Feeling like I should get out my magic mirror and say thank you to everyone.


Susie and Delia yeah you pulled it off..but really Melinda just happened to show up at Dolorosa's? HHUUMM... and the tattoo artist knew it was my birthday.. :D David...super fake boyfriend, LOVE YOU! Thank you to Georgina for making that amazing cake. Kelly and Tania..haha I saw you walk by and I knew something was up. April, I tell you each time I love you and I do. Raul and George..ahh you do love me. Tashia and Joe, lets hang out again I want to see Joe laugh some more. Becca, Becca, Becca, I LOVE YOU! Lauren and Jim, what can I say to the cutest couple I know..buy more white out! Bridget and Tyson, you both are so much fun to hang out with and I felt so honored to have you both next to me the whole evening. Audrey, your friendship means more to me than you will ever know. Each time I want to throw in the towel you amaze me and push me into being a better person. And last but not least... Mark ... SUCKER .. trying to piss me off during the day and then you threw me off by being the best boyfriend ever! What am I ever going to do with you?

Yesterday I was blog hopping and ended up on Cheryl Manz Ametewee blog, I'm sure all my scrapbooking friends know who she is. She had these amazing picture frames and cute camera die cuts well I had to get them. Come to find out they are designed by Danielle Thompson, another one of my favorite designers. Check out her stuff here. Totally adorable right!

project 365 - 5/9 Mother's Day

I got to spend the day with my boys and then went to search out for my mom. She has been spending a lot of time with my aunt Andrea. Sucks watching what cancer is doing to my aunt


Me and my aunt. Brings tears to my eyes seeing her now. A month ago she was still able to hold a slight conservation, now all she does is nod and she has a slight smile on her face. Prayers..that is all I ask for.

It's all very funny how it started.

First it was with me wanting to take silly pictures. Then I would tell someone on the team. STOP. Now walk to me and JUMP. I would say please and smile and yes they did it for me.

Raul here is a great sweetheart. So I can't remember who I gave my camera to first but they just couldn't capture the jumping pictures of us. So we tried this hand holding picture and tried jumping...didn't work out so well. People don't know this about me but I am very clumsy. One moment Raul and I are running, holding hands, jumping...the next I am doing this twirl thing and landing on the floor. Yeah you had to be there.

Close your mouth... I know it's a simple layout but I did it I scrapbooked. I haven't had any "umph" to do it lately. My stuff is scattered all over the place and I needed some inspiration.

Here is me and my bestie in the whole wide world...April. We have been friends since maybe 2003, meet through a scrapbooking group and became instant friends. I have seen her through the good and bad times and it's just being there for her that has made me admire her even more. She went from having cancer, to being the most beautiful pregnant woman, to now being the most beautiful mom to a wonderful little girl. April Thank you for always being there when I needed you most.

I think it's more like I laugh at myself and make jokes because well I know I am going to look like an idiot doing most of not all of the moves. project 365 - 5/5 - Lucha VaVoom

Back in February I took Mark for his birthday to our first ever Lucha VaVoom show. The show had midget wrestlers, burlesques dancers and comedy that had me almost peeing in my pants. So we decided to do it all over again. Again I was not disappointed, we got there early and got ring side seating. I'm a big fan, I will not lie. When he said LUCHA I said VaVoom!! Swear it's my alter ego, I want to be a midget wrestler..hahaha

There is something about Gift Cards and on-line shopping that I just love. I got a Nordstorm gift card from my cousin Santiago and his family for my birthday. It just so happened that yesterday morning I got an email from Nordstorm showing off their latest swin suit styles. I couldn't resisit I went on line and found the cutest suit!

I admit..I am a shop-a-holic.

My Birthday Surprise Party

Thanks for the pictures April!!

First question, was I surprised. Well...there is a story behind that.

Mark: BUCKET! We need to talk!

me: WHAT!!

Mark: I need your schedule! Are you busy on the May 1st?

me: Well technically I do have an event I want to attend that day why?

Mark: How important is it, and is it OK if you miss it?

me: HUH? I've been wanting to do this karaoke thing forever? What is so important?

As the conservation went on I saw how frustrated he was. We had been talking about having a party for my 40th Birthday and he wanted to plan it but he knows I am always busy and well he does get a bit frustrated with me. Sorry Mark. :( I saw how important this was to him so I played along and said OK I promise to be free on May 1st.

So technically I knew there was a party, but I didn't know anything else. That day I was out back by the pool and my mom calls me into her house. Mija, so you know about the party tonight right? I nodded. And you know we want you to dress as Alice, as in Alice in Wonderland. Uuumm No, I did not know that. It's a theme party? So my mom went shopping for me and bought me what is her interpretation of an Alice in Wonderland dress. I cracked a smiled and said OK mom well see.

That evening I go out to dinner with my oldest and his girlfriend. He kept calling my sister and asking is it OK to go home yet. In a way I really do wish it was a surprise, but maybe I am the type you just can't surprise.

Either way, it really was an amazing party and I had such a great time with my family! I can't remember when I laughed so much. This turning 40 business is actually quite fun. What am I going to do when it's over?
