Smash Journal

I can't remember when I bought it. But I've had it for a while. Sometimes I just need a little inspiration, just a little push to get my creative juices going.  My friend Rachelle asked me to help her create a yearly journal type of thing. I sat at my desk and just started thinking and thinking and finally came up with the idea of using the smash journal as a monthly planner. I'm sure others have used this idea, but THIS ONE HERE is my idea. haha.. Reminds me of the Goonies when I say that.

So here are my starting pages of my journal. Since I started in March there are no Jan or Feb tags.

1. The inside cover pages.

March Calendar page.

The tabs. Just cute little tags that I stamped with my old Making Memories Magnetic Stamp Set. I have to admit this, by far, has been one of my favorite scrapbooking purchases ever.

This little trick I threw together on the fly.
The holders are id card holders. I can't even remember why I bought them, but glad I had them. All I did was cut off the top tab area and hot glue it down. Whalla... pen and stuff holder.
I'm all about DIY journals, and totally loving this one. I'm on a mission to use my blog more often and will post pictures of my journal as I go along. It makes me all giddy inside to make cute stuff again.

6/10 - Super easy calendar

In honor of my son's upcoming 21st birthday I've been posting (on his facebook wall) tons of baby pictures of him. Look wasn't he the cutest baby ever.

In my kitchen I love to hang my DIY calendars. For this month I bring you my son Johnny. This picture is of him on his first birthday. And to think the little sucker is going to be 21 in a couple of days. Yes ladies, I am accepting applications for daughter-in-law's.

DIY Calendar if you want to make your own click on the link (
bucket_2011.abr) and download the photoshop brushes. Print on an 8x 11.5 sheet of card stock. Decorate. I hanged my layout on an 9 x 12 piece of cardboard with some clothes hangers and some twine. Super easy. And you can make a unique calendar each month. :) enjoy.

Happy Almost your 21st Birthday Johnny

DIY Planners

A few months ago I found this website that had some DIY Planner Templates. I fell in love with all the templates, but really wanted something a bit more "me."

I started playing around in PhotoShop and came up with some cool 2011 Calendar Templates. Here is what I used.

  • Plastic Dividers from Cropper Hopper, cut down to size to use as covers.
  • 5 tab label dividers (just happen to find them in our office supply section of cast offs. You know the cast off section...You want it, it's yours.)
  • Clear pencil pouch from an old planner I had laying around.
  • Calendar Template

I plan on doing a lot more. There are a few more templates I want to put together.

As much as I try to keep myself organized on my phone's calendar section, it just never works out. Maybe because I am more of a visual person and really I just love to doodle. :D
